Todd Coleman, UX Practice LeadAs the Practice Manager for the Excellis Interactive User Experience (UX) division, Todd leads the UX team in creating extremely usable user interfaces for web and mobile applications. From user research and study to wireframes, prototyping, and visual design, Todd brings his 16 years of design experience to every aspect of the user-centered software interface experience.

A big proponent of user-focused design, Todd believes in minimalism for applications, big and small. “Don’t give the user everything, give them what they need to do their jobs, to be more effective,” he says. “It’s so important to talk to users at every stage of design and development. You don’t want to guess what they want, you need to know what they want.”

Some of Todd’s favorite projects for Excellis are examples of practicing what he preaches. “I’m very proud of the work Excellis did for the AmerisourceBergen ThoughtSpot Tradeshow app. Attendees at the tradeshow were able to use an app they had never seen before to place and track orders with ease. The fact that they saw a huge increase in purchases at the tradeshow demonstrates how successful a simple, clean user experience can be.”

Todd especially enjoys the work Excellis is doing in the enterprise mobile space. “We are at a big turning point where mobile use is outpacing traditional desktop application usage,” says Todd “and we are happy to guide our clients and their users into the mobile world with apps that allow them to do their jobs better.”

Todd is also constantly learning, keeping up with new advances in user interface design, technology, and is excited to keep Excellis’ clients at the forefront of great user experience design.

In his spare time Todd enjoys the good family life with his wife, two kids, two cats, dog, and various woodland creatures in his backyard. He likes listening to loud, guitar-driven music, reading comic books, playing video games, basketball, and mowing the lawn.
